چکیده

Given positive integers d and n, there is an integer N such that for every injective map ffrom { 1 ..... N} a into R there is a subset A = A1 x A2 x ... × Ad of { 1 ..... N} a such that (1) each Aj has n elements, (2) the restriction of f to A is monotone in each coordinate, (3) there is an ordering of the coordinates such that f on A is texicographic with respect to that ordering. Because injection f is Otherwise arbitrary, the direction of monotonicity for each coordinate (increasing or decreasing) and the coordinate ordering for item (3) cannot be prespecified. Results on necessary sizes of N are included. © 1993 Academic Press, Inc.

Ramsey vs. Lexicographic Termination Proving

Termination proving has traditionally been based on the search for (possibly lexicographic) ranking functions. In recent years, however, the discovery of termination proof techniques based on Ramsey’s theorem have led to new automation strategies, e.g. size-change, or iterative reductions from termination to safety. In this paper we revisit the decision to use Ramsey-based termination arguments...

An Overview of Lexicographic Choice Under Uncertainty

This overview focuses on lexicographic choice under conditions of uncertainty. First, lexicographic versions of traditional (von Neumann-Morgenstern) expected utility theory are described where the usual Archimedean axiom is weakened. The role of these lexicographic variants in explaining some well-known “paradoxes” of choice theory is reviewed. Next, the significance of lexicographic choice fo...

On Lexicographic Products of Two Fuzzy Graphs

Abstract. In this paper, lexicographic products of two fuzzy graphs namely, lexicographic min-product and lexicographic max-product which are analogous to the concept lexicographic product in crisp graph theory are defined. It is illustrated that the operations lexicographic products are not commutative. The connected, effective and complete properties of the operations lexicographic products a...

Ramsey Theory

Ramsey theory is a branch of mathematics that focuses on the appearance of order in a substructure given a structure of a specific size. This paper will explore some basic definitions of and history behind Ramsey theory, but will focus on a subsection of Ramsey theory known as Ramsey numbers. A discussion of what Ramsey numbers are, some examples of their relevance in real-life scenarios, and a...
